Where it all began...
My passion for birth actually began the day I was born! It was Thanksgiving Day, the whole family was waiting downstairs in my grandmother’s home, while my mom labored upstairs, assisted by two wonderful midwives, her two best friends, and her sister. I was born peacefully right before it was time for dinner. My birth story has been an integral part of my life and I love sharing it. When I got older, I became very interested in childbirth from a historical, social and feminist view point, stemming from my realization that the way I entered the world was not the norm in our culture. I began reading everything I could about the history of childbirth in America, midwifery care, the physiological process of birth, and the childbirth practices and beliefs of other cultures. Through my research I learned what a doula was when I was 17 and thought, “Wow, my dream job is already out there!” I waited a few years, before taking a doula training, graduating with a degree in psychology and holding several internships focused on reproductive health, childbirth advocacy and midwifery care. I attended my first birth as a doula on Mother's Day of 2009 and have been supporting families ever since!
Being a doula is the most awe-inspiring work I have ever done and I truly love my job! Birth is an amazing and transformative rite of passage and I am blessed to be able to support new families through their incredible journey. In addition to attending births, I also have the pleasure of teaching childbirth classes and encapsulating placentas.

My Doula Philosophy
"Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers - strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength."
-Barbara Kate Rothman
- I believe wholeheartedly that birth can be an empowering and positive experience, regardless of outcome. Each woman deserves respect, dignity and love through this profound, life-changing process.
- By nature, birth is a unique and deeply personal experience and each mom-to-be has her own set of hopes and expectations. I strive to offer non-judgmental care and mentoring in preparation for this journey, so couples greet labor with knowledge, connection, confidence, and trust.
- I do not have my own agenda—my only goal is to support you in having YOUR ideal birth.
Some fun stats that reflect my experience and dedication to this work: I have attended over 230 births, encapsulated about 400 placentas, and taught birth classes to 86 couples!
